Brynhildur Heiðar- og Ómarsdóttir is has worked for IWRA – the Icelandic Women’s Rights Association since 2011, serving first as Secretary General and now as Senior Advisor.
Brynhildur has a long history of working in advocacy and civil society. She is the current president of the labor union Fræðagarður and the chair of Fjöruverðlaunin – the Icelandic Women’s Literature Prize She sits on the board of the science-fiction and fantasy literary festival IceCon, and serves as an alternate board member for the European Women’s Lobby.
Brynhildur is a passionate advocate for education, reading, knowledge building, and open and free access to information. She has cataloged (much of) her library and built a little free library for her neighborhood.
