The Women’s Culture and Commemoration Fund calls for applications for grants 2023.

This year, the fund will focus on grants in the field of culture and education for women who belong to or work with minorities in Iceland.

Applications are accepted from both individuals and groups or associations.

The application deadline is November 1st, 2023

The applicant shall enclose a short essay on why she should receive the grant, as well as a financial plan and timetable for the project.

The application must be sent via mmk.kvenrettindafelag.is before midnight on November 1st.

Grant recipients will be announced on December 10th, 2023. All applications will be answered.

Menningar- og minningarsjóður kvenna – Women’s Culture and Commemoration Fund was established in 1941 in memory of Bríet Bjarnhéðinsdóttir, the founder of Icelandic Women’s Rights Association.The fund’s primarily role is to encourage women to study, both in Iceland and abroad, with scholarships and travel grants. Furthermore, the fund gives grants to women to write, especially about gender equality issues and women’s history.
