Welcome to a panel discussion on the gender gap on the big screen, Friday February 24th, at 5 p.m. in Bíó Paradís.

The reason for the panel is the shocking gender gap of the directors of the films screened in cinemas as shown in a new study that STIFF conducted in collaboration with the Icelandic Women’s Rights Association, funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Participants in the panel are Ása Baldursdóttir programme director at Bíó Paradís, Dögg Mósesdóttir chair of WIFT in Iceland, Hlín Jóhannesdóttir film producer, Margrét Örnólfsdóttir chair of the Icelandic Dramatists Union, Laufey Guðjónsdóttir director of the Icelandic Film Centre and Þorsteinn Víglundsson Minister for Equality. Moderator is Brynhildur Björnsdóttir and Fríða Rós Valdimarsdóttir chair of the Icelandic Women’s Rights Association addresses the meeting.

This panel is organized by Icelandic Women’s Rights Association, WIFT in Iceland and STIFF – Stockholms feministiska filmfestival in collaboration with Stockfish Film Festival.

The panel will be conducted in Icelandic, but notes in English will be handed out.
